Accepting Credit Cards
To accept credit cards via your website, you need:
- A secure server to collect payment information from your customer. (FREE
with MySiteSpindle!)
- A way to process the credit card payments once you have the numbers.
Your options, compatible with MySiteSpindle:
- Manual processing: merchant account required. You receive
the credit card info via email and process it at your retail location
using your existing merchant account terminal
- Authorize.net gateway: merchant account required. The customer's
card is authorized in real time at the money they make their purchase.
You receive only the order fulfillment information.
- PayPal: for sellers without merchant accounts. Provides real-time
processing without its own gateway. The downside? People recognize PayPal
as a tool for those without merchant accounts. Also, the buyer must
register with PayPal before completing the purchase.
Get an Authorize.net Gateway with Your Existing Merchant Account
Contact your merchant account bank and ask them to set up an Authorize.net
gateway. The Authorize.net gateway costs about $20 a month on top of your
merchant account.
